What are Physio and Pilates Classes?

Our 10 week Exercises programs are designed and run by Physiotherapists. They include a series of exercises that activate the core stabilising muscles of the body, as well as strengthen and lengthen the upper and lower limbs.

Benefits include improved strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. In turn, this can lead to improved posture, efficient movement and for many clients, relief from pain and discomfort associated with physical imbalances.

Who Can Do Physio and Pilates Classes?

Our Physio Classes are individually designed to allow clients of all ages and abilities to attend. Physio classes can be used for pain management and injury rehabilitation.

Our Physio Classes target those who want to be stronger and more body aware. Those who want to exercise without injury or harm and are keen to learn about their body and how to look after it, at home long term.

What type of exercises will I be doing in Class?

Therapy Bands

Therapy-bands are used in class to add resistance to your exercises. This photo shows you how to strengthen the external rotators of the right shoulder in sitting. This exercise requires scapula and deep neck stability. Add swiss ball for increased lumbar spine and pelvis stability. Excellent for those with rounded shoulders, tension in the neck and shoulders, mid back stiffness from repetitive activities and sitting, head aches sufferers and swimmers.

Pelvic Bridge

The Pelvic bridge primarily strengthens glute max (largest buttocks muscle) while activating deep low back and pelvic stabilisers. Add therapy-band to increase activation of glute med (hip joint stabiliser). This can be progressed to a single leg shoulder bridge and to include the upper body. Excellent for those with low back and hip pain, for those who like to walk, hike and run.

Modified Squat

Traditional squat modified with use of therapy-band and magic ring to activate the stabilising muscles of the neck, shoulder, low back, pelvis, hip and knee joints. To strengthen the lower body and correct muscle imbalances. Excellent for the non-injured general population. Enhances sitting to standing, climbing stairs, walking, running, lifting, decreases load on the low back.

Foam Roller

Our clients love using the foam roller to release their neck and upper back. The foam roller is being used here with a therapy band to strengthen and release the upper body while activating deep abdominal muscles.
